[First page of this chapter] [Chapters Index] ----------------------------- Continuing from the last page: It has always seemed to me the obvious thing to do if you are a superhero who, despite having super-powers, still needs the help of your non or less super-powered friends, should, instead of pushing them away to keep them from getting hurt, keep them as close as possible so they can help you, and you can protect them. This is, after all, the best way of training up weaker characters in RPGs. Can I hear a "DUH?" Thank you. This also firmly establishes what I think is the master theme of Angeldevil as a whole: the taking of familiar fiction tropes, even clichés, and either turning them on their heads or downright rejecting them. I do this, not only because I am sick of seeing them, but also of seeing them treated as if they were essential to telling a story, and wanted to show how this could be done differently. So even though Angeldevil is very much a comic book/manga, with its own brand of quirkiness, it is also aware enough to step around the pot-holes so prevalent in this medium.* *This is not to say that ALL comics/manga must have these problems: only most, and I full-heartedly applaud those that attempt and/or succeed at solving them. ----------------------------- Angeldevil is by *Agent-Elrond and © *AngeldevilManga, some rights reserved.
